TROUNSON TAKES MAIDEN WIN

Shaun Trounson, with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the heats, has taken his maiden Round win at Phillip Island.
Trounson was fast and consistent all day and when Occhipinti failed to finish the final heat, the win was his.

Russ Occhipinti was on fire, qualifying just 1/10th outside the lap record. He won the first heat by the length of the main straight, but struggled in heat 2, swapping the lead with Trounson, but managing to hold on for the heat win. Race 3's DNF ended his day.

David Sheedy was doing his last race on P Plates. Despite starting off the back of the grid, he managed to finish 5th.

Reigning 125 Max light club champion, Dean Crooke, was a non-starter having been banned from the club. The ban effectively stops him racing Superkarts in Victoria. The illegal actions of the club exec means that the class is now devoid of its leading driver, a situation that does not sit well with his closest competitors. Hollow victories can be the only result.


Dave Sheady drove his last P Plate race to finish 5th in the Lights division.

Russ Occhapinti was a bullet early in the day, taking the win in the first 2 heats. A DNF in the final ruined his day.
