CROOKE WINS AUSTRALIAN HYPER CHAMPIONSHIP

Dean Crooke has added the Hyper Racer 2008 Australian Manufacturers Championship
to his recent 2008 Victorian Club Championship title.

Drivers in both Light and Heavy divisions did battle over 9 rounds and 32 heats of racing, in 3 states, in what has been arguably the most prestigious Superkart championship in memory.

In the Light division, Crooke was dominant, winning 8 of the 9 rounds and taking 3 lap records at Sandown, Wakefield Park and Oran Park, along the way.

In the Heavy division Chris Jew
ell and Patrick Atherton had a season long battle, with Jewell finally taking the honours with 5 round wins.

In the final count of the combined Light and Heavy division points, it was Crooke from Jewell and Atherton.
Crooke's name is the first to go on the perpetual Hyper Racer Golden Orb Trophy.

At Mallala on Sunday;
Dean Crooke won the final Hyper Championship Light Division round
John Bartlett won the final Hyper Championship Heavy Division round
Ralf Rupprecht won the Australian Superkart Light Division GP Trophy Race
Ryan Felmingham won the Australian Superkart Heavy Division GP Trophy Race
Crooke took fastest lap of the day at 1:20.1414

A big thanks to the South Australian Superkart Club and drivers, who put on a great race day with a first class field.
Special thanks to Ron Goldfinch, Dave and Barb Hepworth and Chris Jewell and family for the hospitality.
