FIRST MAJOR TRACK TEST

Our first major track test was held at Winton last Friday
and the results exceeded every expectation we had for the PRO Racer.
75 laps were completed.
The morning sessions were wet and the last session was dry with some wet patches.

HANDLING
Dean described the Pro Racers handling after each session as perfect, balanced, predictable, incredible.
The wet sessions were run on slicks and the car was easy and predictable to drive. In the wet there was no turn in understeer and with controlled throttle application you could exit in a controlled slide.
In the dry the car exhibited the same easy balance. In the high speed sweeper the car set-up in a neutral drift with essentially a neutral steering position.
The car is physically easy to drive. Dean was able to do 20 lap stints without raising a sweat (said he could have done a 100 lap stint with ease).

BRAKES
Brakes exhibited no fade but ran with the bias all the way to the front. We will test a modified spec front master cylinder. The car displayed no instability or bump steer under heavy braking.

GEARBOX
The gear change is quite notchy on down changes so we have decided to fit a 'Slipper Clutch' as standard equipment. This will make downshifts a snap. Unfortunately the 'Slipper Clutch' will add around $2000 to the total price of the car.

SPRINGS and SHOCKS
We have settled on our spring rates and we had Steve Cramer re-valve the shocks and dyno test them. The Winton testing confirms that they are spot on. Thanks Steve.

RADIATOR
The design of the ducting around the headrest to the radiator was finalised. Air temp was around 15ºc. Water temp ran at around 70ºc. Taping the radiator may be required on very cold days.

FUEL
Fuel tank capacity (5.5 ltr) is good for around 40 laps of the Winton long circuit.

A big thank you to Steve Cramer for his work with the Ohlins shocks
and Les May from Dunlop for his support with the supply of tyres.

Thank you to our 'test program' sponsors
